Hi, I'm Slate, an independent brand designer and creative strategist building well-considered visual identities, brand systems, and campaigns for humans (and the organizations that serve them).

Over the past decade, I've worked across agencies, in-house teams, and independent practice, connecting strategy with visual identity, art direction, integrated campaigns, digital experiences, packaging, and brand design. I love the thinking as much as the making, and especially the collaborative space between them.

I spent five years leading brand design and art direction at PrettyLitter, evolving its visual identity through rapid growth, retail expansion (Target, Walmart, Costco), and its acquisition by Mars Petcare.

Today, through Cubicle™, I partner with founder-led startups, growing consumer brands, and creative studios that care about the people they're creating for. I'm especially drawn to mission-driven teams with unusual, human-centered ideas. I love getting involved early to shape the strategy, build the identity, and create the governance to ensure the brand system maintains consistency as it expands.

Experience includes:

Agencies: FINE, Another, Campbell Ewald, Fifty & Fifty, Instrument

In-house: Gen.xyz, Portland Leather Goods, PrettyLitter

Freelance: Ritual Vitamins, cul de sac, Garrett Leight, YouTube, W Hotels, American Cancer Society, Susan Wojcicki Foundation, Plume Clinic, OpenAI, Playtomo
